Welcome

Welcome to westcliffe chalets

Welcome to Westcliffe Chalets which are set on a hillside on the southern side of the island just south of the village of Niton. The site itself is owned and managed by a husband and wife team, while the 26 chalets are individually owned. This results in only 12 of them being currently rented so that the site is always quiet and peaceful. Nearly all the chalets are south facing and so are in the sunshine for most of the day. There is one entry/exit via electric gates which first lead into an ample and secure car park.

The chalets are built on three levels and surrounded by well tended gardens with an abundance of colourful plants and shrubs inspired by the splendid botanical gardens set in the Undercliff near Ventnor.

The area is known for its spectacular walking country. The gate into the ear park is actually on the coastal footpath. Turn left or right from the gate and both directions have terrific scenery. Go left towards Blackgang and find yourself looking down on St.Catherine’s Lighthouse from the top of the cliff. Go right and walk all the way to Ventnor. There is an extensive network of well kept footpaths all over the island.

The wild life at Westcliffe includes badgers, an abundance of birds and three families of red squirrels that come down to feed three times a day. In the high summer and autumn most native butterflies are well represented.

It’s a five to ten minute walk into Niton Village using the most direct route. There are two others you can take. There you can find the White Lion pub selling real ale and good food; a family run Londis supermarket with instore bakery and off license and fresh meat delivered every day; a pharmacy, a book and hardware shop, a butcher, a surgery, and a hairdresser. Not to be missed is the Post Office which doubles up as a cafe where you can get a good cup of tea or coffee with very generous slices of cake as well as breakfasts and light meals, served either inside the shop or outside in the enormous and delightful garden. The parish church is also well worth visiting.

Whether you are looking for an active holiday or a restful. pottering time away from the crowds in the quiet and peace of the countryside we believe we can offer more than most, both on the site and in the surrounding area.

Most of the chalets also have tables and chairs outside, plus recliners, and all arc kept to a high standard in furnishings and cleanliness.

The nearest beach is at Castlehaven via the Buddie Inn downhill from Westcliffe. The nearest town of any size is Ventnor which has a large Supermarket, well stocked Ironmonger’s, Fish shop supplied by local fishermen from their latest catches and lots of second hand shops.

The largest town is Newport, approximately 15-20 minutes way by car on the fastest route, where you can find large supermarkets and and lots of big stores both in the town and in the large retail area which has grown up to the north of Newport.

Please note that apart from the one two bedroom, two bathroom chalet all our chalets are for 2 people, also we have a no pets or children policy because of health and safety and insurance.
